The aim of the ‘Proeftuin’ project is to encourage the creation of scalable and reproducible renovation concepts in order to develop affordable solutions. The research is conducted based on actual renovation projects. The building physics research team of the UGent is one of the partners of three different ‘Proeftuin’ projects. The first project ‘De Schipjes’ (Bruges) aims at encouraging the energy optimisation in the renovation of historic communities. The second project is situated in Antwerp (Kiel) and wants to gain the necessary insights to develop more (cost)optimal and energy efficient building blocks when renovating future buildings. The third and last project is called ‘Drie Hofsteden’ (Kortijk) and aims at developing solutions to the rebuilding of social buildings up to BEN-standards.
